Steven G. Novillo-Cabrera was behind the wheel of a 2020 Honda Civic when he struck George Arnold, 57, as he was trying to cross Ridge Road at Milton Avenue around 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Novillo-Cabrera also tried to repair the vehicle to hide his involvement in the crash, police said. He was lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending an appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.

He was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, hindering, endangering an injured victim, and tampering with physical evidence.

Meanwhile, services have been set for Arnold, a Rutherford High School graduate who had been working as a cook at Steve's Sizzling Steaks in Carlstadt.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kimak Funeral Home at 425 Broad St. in Carlstadt.
